5. Muscle problems
If you feel a decrease in muscle tone and stiffness, especially in the morning, you should consider testing your blood vitamin D levels (7).
Vitamin D deficiency can also cause muscle pain by increasing the sensitivity of the cells responsible for detecting pain, especially in the muscles. It has been reported that muscle pain is relieved after taking high-dose vitamin D supplements in people with deficiency symptoms (8).
In addition, a study of 120 children with vitamin D deficiency and growth pain showed that a single dose of vitamin D reduced pain levels by an average of 57% (9).
