Sliced baked potatoes are an easy and comforting side dish that goes perfectly with almost any meal. Each slice gets crispy edges and a soft, buttery inside — like a cross between roasted potatoes and potato chips. They’re also super customizable: add cheese, herbs, or bacon for your own twist!
Ingredients
- 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes
- 3 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter for richer flavor)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Step 2: Slice the Potatoes
Wash and scrub potatoes well.
Slice into ¼-inch (6 mm) thick rounds — not too thin, not too thick.
Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Step 3: Season
Place the potato slices in a large bowl.
Drizzle with olive oil (or butter), then sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and herbs.
Toss until each slice is evenly coated.
Step 4: Arrange and Bake
Lay the slices flat on the baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp on the edges.
Step 5: Add Cheese (Optional)
During the last 5 minutes, sprinkle Parmesan on top and let it melt into the slices for extra flavor.
Serving Ideas
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
- Serve with sour cream, ranch dressing, or cheese sauce.
- Pair with steak, chicken, or fish.
Tips for Perfect Potatoes
- For extra crispiness, soak slices in cold water for 15 minutes before baking, then dry well.
- Add a touch of chili flakes for a spicy kick.
- You can make them in the air fryer too — cook at 375°F (190°C) for about 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
