It is not clear whether foods fortified with plant sterols or ethanol reduce the risk, of heart attack or stroke – although, experts assume that foods that reduce cholesterol also reduce that risk Plant sterol, or ethanol does not appear to affect triglycerides or high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, which is “beneficial” cholesterol.
