Difference Between Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a general term for surgical procedures that allow patients to correct their size, shape, and symmetry for a more balanced appearance. If you have cosmetic concerns about your nose, including nasal asymmetry, a hump, depression on the bridge, an enlarged nose, narcotic, or a large or full nose, a rhinoplasty procedure may be the appropriate solution to your concerns.

Rhinoplasty can be completed as a closed or open procedure, as you decide with your doctor. The public system will cause a very subtle scar across the columella, which is the tissue bridge between the gills. Scarring is minimal and naturally fades into a thin, unnoticeable streak once recovery is complete. Closed rhinoplasty does not lead to any external incision, but it may not be an option for every patient.

Due to the different cosmetic concerns of each patient, each nose surgery is different and uniquely customized to treat your nose. Some procedures may include the use of cartilage grafts that can be taken from other parts of the nose, ear, or even the rib in some cases.
